James T Engle

James Theodore Engle, age 79, passed on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Fairfield Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. James was also known as “Jimmy” “Big Jim” or “Big Pap”. He was born on September 10, 1945 to the late George Theodore “Ted” Engle and Hazel Ankrom Engle.

He is survived by his loving wife, Deb, who was also his caretaker the last few years. His mother, Hazel Engle; sons, James “Ted” (Kelley) Engle and Bradley “Jason” Engle; sister, Diana “Punkie” (Dale) Estep; brother, Larry Engle; grandchildren, Kayla, Blake and Jalyn Engle; step-children, Aubrey (Dale) Williams, Christopher Thompson and Jordan and Devan Webb; step-grandchildren, Liam and Lincoln Webb, K’irie, Kinley and Calyx; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, George “Ted” Engle; brother, Tom Engle; grandson, Andrew “Drew” Townsend Engle; niece, Shellee Johnson and sister-in-law, Wanda Francis.

After graduating from Fairfield Union High School with the class of 1963, Jim joined the United States Air Force, where he served 4 years with 3 years served in Hahn, Germany as an airplane mechanic. Upon returning home, Jim worked for his father running the family business, Engle’s Garage. After his fathers passing in 1980, Jim became the owner/operator of the garage for 45 years. As his health declined, Jim enjoyed visiting the garage to visit with his customers and visit with friends and neighbors. Jim loved his family, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He also loved his furry friends, Bandit and Bella.

Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life and Memorial Service on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at the Ross George Post 9 American Legion in Pleasantville from 3PM-6PM.
