He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Madeline Graf; brother, Eugene “Gene” Graf (Mary) and first wife, Zetta Graf. He is survived by his beloved wife, Laura Graf (Hintz), who has taken care of him and been by his side for the last 37 years; son, Jeff (Brenda) Graf; daughters, Shelley (Craig Campbell) Graf and Tina (Steve) Anderson; step-son, Mike (Becky) Kost; step-daughter, Julie (Greg Smith) Rheinscheld; grandchildren, Shannon (David) Fish, Hilary (Jaron Hempleman) Skeens, Claire Hamrick, Kalee (Branden) Gibson, Amy (James) Ruffner, and Bradly Anderson; step-grandchildren, Tyler Kost, Nick (Skye) Kost, Chris (April) Staley and Hunter (Jillian) Kost; 12 great-grandchildren and step-grandchildren. He was also survived by his loving dogs, Dollie, Carley, and Penny Rose.
Charlie proudly served in the United States Army. Charlie owned a mowing business, Laurel Hill Mowing, for many years. He also was a member of the Lancaster Masonic Lodge #57, becoming a Master Mason and receiving his 40 year service pin. He served as a lieutenant on the Volunteer Fire Department in Sugar Grove for over 30 years. Charlie was a past President and member of the Berne Union Board of Education. He volunteered at the annual 4th of July celebration and was in charge of the fireworks display for many years. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and served as a church council member.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 22, 2024 at 1PM at the HALTEMAN-FETT & DYER FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Paul Wymer officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. Matthew Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 11AM until the time of the services.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to either the Berne Twp. Fire Department (5872 Sugar Grove Rd SE, Sugar Grove, OH 43155) or the Macular Degeneration Association (https://macularhope.org/) in memory of Charlie.
