Peter Michael McNamara

Peter Michael McNamara, age 63, of Toms River, NJ, passed away on Sunday February 16, 2020, at his home. Peter was born August 15, 1956 in Paterson, NJ as the son of the late Leah (Beckett) and Peter Francis McNamara.

Peter was raised in Lincoln Park, NJ as a young man. He served in the US Navy as a submarine mechanic for over 22 years before his retirement. While in service, he attained his associate degree from Chapman University. He was a member of American Legion Post 348. Peter had a huge heart for those who new him, and he is fondly remembered for feeding everyone from the garden he enthusiastically tended. He was also quite the tinker, as he was always willing to help fix things for his family and friends. He formerly owned and operated Brick Appliance with his wife.

Brother of the late Jerry Rockwell, Peter is survived by his beloved wife of ten years, Marie; three children, Marie McNamara, Lisa Murtha, and Sean McNamara; three step-children, Lisa Stuto, Chista Stuto, and Dominick Stuto and his spouse Jeremy; a sister, Nancy Gomez and her spouse Joe; a brother, Ronnie Rockwell; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be Friday, February 21, 2020, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave., Lakewood, NJ 08701. His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2020 in the St. Mary of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, 43 Madison Ave., Lakewood, NJ 08701. He will be laid to rest in the BG William C. Doyle NJ Veterans Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ at a later date.
