John J. Sweeney, age 68, of the Original Leisure Village section of Lakewood, NJ passed away on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at home. John was born November 9, 1952 in New York, NY as the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. John Sweeney. John lived in Brooklyn, NY prior to moving to Lakewood 12 years ago. John was a retired supervisor for the New York City Department of Sanitation, having retired after over 25 years of service. He was a fan of the New York Yankees and the New York football Giants.
John is survived by his wife, Phyllis Damico-Sweeney; step-daughter Allison Grome (Julio Matamoros); and step-grandsons James Grome and Justin Grome.
Private cremation arrangements were handled by D'Elia Funeral Home.
