James Edward Ness

James E. “Scotty” Ness, 100, passed away November 27, 2011 at Harrogate Healthcare Center in Lakewood. Mr. Ness was born and raised in Kearny, before moving to Verona for 35 years and finally settling in Normandy Shores in Lakewood. Scotty worked in the investment industry for all his life, namely Kean Taylor and Company, Howard Savings Bank, The Irving Trust Company and FB Cooper and Company. He was a member of the Bond Club of New York, a former councilman in Verona and was involved in various religious and civic boards. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and will be greatly missed by all. James is predeceased by his sister Mildred Matthews and brother Howard Ness. Mr. Ness is survived by his wife of 73 years Olive, two children, James W. Ness and his wife Rita and Deborah N. Lamont and her husband Alexander; five grandchildren, Scott, Cory, Geoffrey, Erin and Stephen; three great grandchildren, Amelia, Owen and Chase; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Cowburn; and many loving nieces and nephews. Friends may call Wednesday, November 30, 2011 from 9:30- 10:30am at the D’Elia Funeral Home Rt. 70 & Vermont Ave. Lakewood, NJ 08701. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 10:30AM at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Arlington Cemetery in Kearny, NJ.
