Grace Marie Hills

Grace was born on May 25, 1927 in Trenton, NJ, and she was the daughter of the late Anne M. (Schwing) and John L. Hills. She was a longtime resident of Ewing, NJ, and came to the Harrogate section of Lakewood six years ago. Grace was a knitting and gardening enthusiast, and she also loved to visit Long Beach Island, NJ. She was truly a people person and gave of her time by volunteering for Catholic Charities, St. Francis Church of Trenton, the Ewing Seniors Club’s sewing section, and at the Harrogate Healthcare Center.

She is survived by her two siblings, Anne M. Hills, with whom she resided and Marie E. Gavigan; a nephew, John Patrick Gavigan; two nieces, Elizabeth Anne Gavigan Popgoshev and her husband Daniel, and Kathleen Marie Gavigan Sheldon; a grand nephew, Edward L. Sheldon; a grand-niece, Anne Marie Popgoshev, and many cousins.

Visitation will be Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the D’Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave., Lakewood, NJ 08701. Her funeral mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the St. Mary of the Lake Church, 43 Madison Ave., Lakewood, NJ 08701. Entombment will follow in the Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery Mausoleum in Hamilton, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary of the Lake Church.
