Born in Brooklyn, she resided in Staten Island, NY and Brick, NJ before relocating to Harrogate many years ago. She was a professional educator in the NY public school system in Staten Island, NY, retiring in 1971 after 32 years of service. Mrs. Pantelleria was a graduate of Hunter College and the Teachers College at Columbia University in NY. She was responsible for the introduction of the foreign language program for Spanish and Italian at the McKee Vo-Tech. High School. She used her talents to interpret for the Department of Censorship during WW II, to teach staff at the Halloran Hospital, and aid wounded soldiers in their quest for a G.E.D. She was a member of the Italian Teachers Organization, the Richmond Square Dancers Assn., the American Committee on Italian Migration, and the Retired Teachers Assn. of NYC. Angela enjoyed opera, traveling, Broadway theater, gardening, sewing and dancing.
Daughter of the late Nancy (Carmeli) and Antonio Briguglio, she was predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph J. Pantelleria in 1975 and is also predeceased by two brothers, Antonio G. II. and Joseph F. Briguglio.
Angela is survived by her beloved sister-in-law, Marjorie R. Briguglio; three nieces, Nancy D. Carelli, Marjorie Jo O’Byrne, and Anne Marie Briguglio all of Staten Island, NY and their children; a beloved cousin Angela M. Vetere of Ocean, NJ and her children; and many other relatives and friends.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Friday in the Moravian Cemetery, 2205 Richmond Rd., Staten Island, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Angela’s memory may be made to the Harrogate Fund, 400 Locust St., Lakewood, NJ 08701.
