George Leandro Lara, age 74, of Denver, Colorado passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024. George was a Denver native, son of Anna (Garibay) Lara and George Lara, brother to Richard Lara. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1968, and worked a variety of jobs including as a home building framer, Chevy parts counter man, and news paper route manager.
George loved to watch classic movies and loved the classic hits by Bobby Darin, Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley. He had a fascination with cars that spanned his lifetime. Some of his treasured favorites were his rebuilt VW Beetles, his 1931 Model A pickup, and his Fiat 500 Abarth.
In his younger years, he loved riding motorcycles, long mountain drives, and watching races at local race tracks. Some of his favorite memories were made in Walsenburg, Colorado and Long Island, New York with his family.
George is survived by his wife, Nancy (McCormack) Lara; daughter, Carole Michelle; son, Ryan Christopher; brother, Richard Lara, and loving extended family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024 from 12PM-5PM at the family home on South Vrain.
