Edward "Big Ed" Mullaney

Edward James Mullaney III, 71, of Littleton, was called home to the Lord on Feb. 19, 2024. He is survived by his wife, Laura children, Janice Mullaney, Edward “E.J.” Mullaney IV and Patrick Mullaney; grandchildren, Marleigh Brunett, Ashling Brunett, Cashel Brunett, Macklin Mullaney, Renan Mullaney, and Crew Mullaney; mother, Ruthann; and siblings, Mark Mullaney, Marianne Small and Ryan Mullaney.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 am on March 7, 2024 at Church of The Risen Christ in Denver, CO.

Ed was born March 1, 1952, in Denver, to Edward James Mullaney Jr and Ruthann Mullaney. He attended St. James Catholic School, graduated from George Washington High School, and later attended Yavapai Junior College and Colorado State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities. Ed spent the next 50 years building a successful career in the Commercial Real Estate Industry along the way making many cherished friendships.

Ed and Laura were married for 42 years and raised their three children in Denver. Ed was a devoted father and family man and coached basketball for all three of his children, and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in their respective sports. A standout athlete himself in high school and college, he also cheered on his brothers during their football careers. Ed was a devoted Colorado State University “Mighty Rams” fan and loved going to Fort Collins every December with Laura to enjoy his old college town. He also spent Sundays cheering for the Denver Broncos.

Ed attended mass every Sunday and prayed at the Carmelite Monastery in Littleton every day. He enjoyed fellowship with his men’s groups and Friday evening “Mensa Meetings” with neighbors. Ed loved laughing with his friends and family sitting around a fire with an Irish whisky in one hand a cigar in the other. He loved God and family and lived life fully and joyfully. He embodied the words love and devotion. For all who knew him he was known as “Big Ed” he was larger than life, and will forever be missed.
