Born near McCoy, Colorado to Marvin and Lucille Grimes, Don grew up an only child and lived in many places. He graduated from South High School in Denver in 1952 and married long time sweetheart Betty (Kellogg) on December 13, 1952. Three children followed: Jerry, Tami, and Scott. The family settled in Westminster, Colorado where Don lived for sixty-four years.
Don retired as Engineering Room Supervisor for Public Service Company of Colorado in 1993 after 41 years of service. Don and Betty travelled the world during retirement from Europe to China, Indonesia, the Caribbean, Hawaii and a favorite spot – Australia. Jerry had moved to Australia in the mid-1980’s and visiting this “Aussie” family became a frequent destination. Besides travel, he was an avid elk hunter, scuba diver and card player: always happy to lend a hand or tools to anyone who asked.
Don died at home under Tami’s care as he struggled with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease the last several years. Don is survived by his three kids, 6 Grand-kids and 12 Great Grandkids. He will be missed.
Per Don's wishes no services or gatherings will be held.
