He graduated from Tulia High School in Tulia, TX in 1953 and enlisted in the United States Navy. After six years of serving, he was Honorably discharged and moved to Austin, TX. He attended Durham Business College and went to work for the Texas Highway Department, Motor Vehicle Division (now known as Texas Department of Transportation). Phil retired after 30 years of service and built a home on Lake LBJ in Granite Shoals, TX. He enjoyed sharing his love for the lake with his friends and family. He traveled extensively throughout his life. It started with taking his daughters on camping vacations when they were young, and after retirement, he went on many road trips throughout the U.S. and traveled the world. His passion for travel has been passed down to his daughters and grandchildren. Dad, keep those wheels moving.
He was predeceased by his parents and brother, John Edward Brooks. He is survived by his daughters, Tammy Brooks of Fayetteville, Texas and Janita Page of Spicewood, Texas; grandchildren, Tiffany McMillan and husband Ryan of Houston, Texas, Cory Page and wife Maggie Rose of Houston, Texas, Travis Page and wife Darian of Boerne, Texas; ten great-grandchildren.
