John (Jack) Patrick Gormley, 82, died of natural causes on November 6, 2020 at his place of residence at the Arbor Terrace Senior Living Facility in Lakeway, Texas. Jack, who was also affectionately known as “Jackie” as a child growing up in New York City, was born November 19, 1937 in Manhattan to Irish immigrants, John Gormley and Nora Fleming. Jack was the loving brother of three sisters - Marion, Mona and Cecilia. He took on the role as man of the house at age 18 after his father’s passing.
Jack married Marianne Gregory Taylor on December 26, 1964 and adopted her young son, Tom Taylor. In the years that followed, Jack and Marianne had two more children - John Patrick, Jr. (Jay) and Jennifer Elaine Gormley.
Jack was a devoted husband who deeply loved and supported his family physically, spiritually and emotionally. There were no limits to his generosity, patience, compassion, understanding and faith. He always put his wife and children first and never compromised on the love and support he provided to his family.
Jack received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University and also served our nation as a US Army Radar Specialist. After leaving the military, he continued to serve his country as a government employee working on the US’ early warning missile detection systems in Fairbanks, Alaska.
Following his time in Alaska, Jack brought his skills and experience back to the Northeast and joined Sperry-Rand/Univac, where he worked on the early Univac Mainframe Systems in the late 1960s. His successful career with the company spanned four decades and allowed him to retire as a Computer Systems Manager for Unisys Corporation.
Jack is predeceased by his father John J. Gormley, mother Nora Fleming, sister Mona Gardella, sister Marion Farrell, and sister Celia (Cecilia) Buster. Survivors include Marianne his wife of 55 years, oldest son Tom and wife Alnita, son Jay and wife Robin, daughter Jennifer, six grandchildren (Nicole, Michael, Allie, Eryk, Daniel and Colin), one great-grandson Killian and eight nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on November 20, 2020 in Lakeway, Texas from 2:00 - 3:00 PM CT. The service is limited to the immediate family but will also be broadcast via Zoom due to the 2020 pandemic. Please contact Tom Gormley for Zoom access and account information.

A memorial service will be held on November 20, 2020 in Lakeway, Texas from 2:00 - 3:00 PM Central Time. Because of the 2020 pandemic the service is limited to the local family for everyone’s safety. However, it will be broadcasted via Zoom (meeting ID 836 9008 1041).

While 2020 is a crazy year on so many fronts ..... Tom, Jay, and Jennifer, and our Mom, sincerely hope our family and friends can join us for this memorial to our Dad. We know our father touched all of our lives in so many ways!
