Barbara Gay Walls

Beloved Mother, Grandmother, and friend. Barbara Gay Morgan Walls passed away on January 18, 2023 at the age of 86. Born in Mangum Oklahoma to Clell and Toledo Morgan May 19, 1936. She is survived by her daughter Kimberly Miller, grandson Nicholas Miller and his wife Charlie Smith Miller, and son in law George Miller.

She was preceded in death by her husband and soul mate Perry C. Walls, and her son Patrick Walls.

She also leaves behind her sister in law Debbie Westbrook, her husband Lonnie, and their children Michelle, Melynda,Melissa, and Lonnie , her brother in law Bill Clark his wife Deborah, their children Zach and Keisha, and neice Suzette Walls and many great nieces and nephews.

Barbara was Valedictorian of her class of 1954 at Tuloso Midway High in Corpus Christi Tx. She was married to Perry Walls on June 10, 1955. She was a member of the band, and many sports teams.

Barbara worked at Corpus Christi bank and trust until her family moved to Austin in 1970. She worked as an office substitute for the Austin ISD for a few years. She then went to work for families all over the Lake Travis area cleaning and helping manage households. She made many life long friends along the way. She truly loved going to family reunions visiting and watching the families grow. She kept a list of birthdays and anniversaries of every family member, friend and beyond, sending out birthday and anniversary emails every month. She was a keeper of her families histories, and loved to research the past lives of those who came before. Barbara was the go to gal for her alma mater too, keeping track of people, places and the lives they lead. Sending emails out to let everyone know who was doing what, where and when.

She followed her grandson’s alma mater Lake Travis in Football religiously even after she couldn’t get to the games. Up until last year she held season tickets and gave them to someone who had a player on the team because she wanted to support but could no longer be there in person. When her eye sight failed her she listened to every game on the radio. She even took notes on who did what and what players she thought would go on to do great things in the future. For years she would write a speech and give out the SPIRIT award, which was started in tribute to Perry Walls, at the LT football banquets. While she loved the Dallas Cowboys, mostly because Perry didn’t give her a choice, she followed any of the Austin area kids who went on to college and the NFL no matter who they played for to root them on.

The out pouring of condolences are truly appreciated. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held February 18, 2023 at the Lakeway Activity Center, 105 Cross Creek, Lakeway, Texas 78734, from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m.. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Children’s Shriner Hospital, a charity that Barbara supported.

Miss me but let me go. When I come to the end of the road, and the sun sets for me, I want no rites in a gloom filled room. Why cry for a soul set free. When you are lonely and sick at heart, go to the friends we know, and bury your sorrows in doing good things. Miss me, but let me go.
