AUSTIN - Antonio C. Galian, MD, 92, died peacefully on July, 13, 2024 at an assisted living facility in Lakeway, TX in the presence of his family. He was born on May 26, 1932 in Manila, Philippines, the second son of Paz Cordero and Mariano Galian.
Antonio finished medical school at the Manila Central University in 1955. While working in Baguio City, he met and later married Emerita (Angeles) Galian on July 25, 1964. They would have been married for 60 years this year. Antonio emigrated to the United States in 1968 to provide better opportunities for his growing family. He settled in New York City and Long Island and worked for New York State for 30 years. At the age of 67 he retired and moved to Natick, MA. In 2002, he resettled in Austin, TX.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, Felipe; his sister, Pacita; his youngest sister, Agripina; and his eldest son, Aristeo. Surviving, in addition to his wife, Emerita, are his son, Erik and his wife, Tsao-Chuen, of Austin, TX; three grandchildren, Katrina Amber of Dallas, TX, Yasmine and Amelia of Austin, TX; one brother, German, and his wife, Emma of Manila, Philippines; many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 10205 N FM 620 Austin, TX 78726 on August 3, 2024 at 10 am. Inurnment and reception will follow immediately after Mass on church grounds.
