She was born on August 8, 1913 in Hillsboro, Ohio to the late C.J. Uible and Gladys Hiestand Uible.
In 1931, she attended the Ward Belmont School for Girls in Nashville, Tennessee. Mary was a graduate
of Ohio University, Athens, Ohio in 1935 with a degree in Business and a Music minor. She was a member
of Phi Mu Sorority. From Ohio, she moved to Lake Worth in 1952. Mary was an active member of Calvary
United Methodist Church, Lake Worth, for over 40 years, where she played the organ and piano and sang
in the choir. She was an active member of the United Methodist Women. Taking great pleasure in music,
theatre and the arts, Mary was an accomplished musician, playing piano, organ and the cello. Enjoying
both international and domestic travel, she journeyed to China, Australia, Europe, Africa, and the Middle
East and took frequent trips in the Western United States including Hawaii. As a young woman playing tennis
and golf, Mary was an avid sports fan, especially watching tennis, golf and football. She liked playing bridge
and was a member of many social bridge clubs.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, William A. Horton, who died in 1994. Her survivors include:
brother, Harold Hiestand Uible, husband of the late Jean Uible, of New Vienna, Ohio and Sun City West, Arizona;
her children: Joseph U. Horton and his partner Michael G. McCafferty, of Santa Fe, New Mexico and Jupiter, Florida;
Marianne Horton Kintner and her husband Lawrence R. Kintner, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania and Port St. Lucie, Florida;
Cris W. and his wife Angela Horton of Auburn, Indiana; and Robert H. and his wife Cindy Horton of Lake Worth, Florida.
She also leaves six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was a beloved Aunt to many nieces and nephews on
both sides of the Uible and Horton families. Her family will receive friends on Saturday, March 17, 2012
at the funeral home, between 11:00 A.M. & 12:00 noon, where her life will be celebrated at 12:00 noon.

West Palm Beach, FL. 33407 or to Calvary United Methodist Church, 301 First Avenue South, Lake Worth, FL. 33460
