William A Helsper

William A Helsper, age 91, of Lake Odessa, Michigan passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2024. William was born on February 11, 1933 in St Paul, MN to Frank and Lydia (Lucier) Helsper. William married Phyllis Kavanagh and before her passing in 2018 they spent 65 years together.William Served in the Army at Fort Leonard Wood Mo. during the Korean war from 1953 to 1955. He then went to work for Deluxe check printers in Minnesota. He transferred to Michigan and retired in the 1980's. He used to own the resort on North end of Jordan Lake. After selling that, he continued on to own several other businesses and other odd jobs. He finally had to quit working in his 80's. William was also part of the team that helped get the Family Center built at St. Edwards and the first Library in Lake Odessa, both of which have been great additions to the community.

He will be missed by his children Joe (Monica) Helsper, Amy (Ian) Zeckzer, Ted Helsper, Ed (Brenda) Helsper, Bob Helsper, Elizabeth (Paul) Spaulding, Jerry (Karen) Helsper and Mary Carr (Don Meyer), many grandchildren and great grandchildren

William was preceded in death by wife Phyllis and son Charles Jeffery Helsper.

A Funeral Mass is scheduled for August 13, 2024 at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Lake Odessa starting at 11am. William will be laid to rest with Phyllis in Woodland Memorial Park following a luncheon in St. Edwards Family Center.
