Richard Norman "Dick" Hein, aged 67, of Lake Odessa, was called Home to his Savior on Saturday, March 13, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. Dick was born on March 17, 1942 in Detroit, MI to Richard A. and Kathleen (Hannigan) Hein. In 1960, Dick graduated from Clarkston High School. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force, and then went to work in the family business as a painter, before joining the Painter's Union and working many more years before retiring in 2005. Dick will be remembered and missed by many, many friends who knew him and loved him. His sense of humor, listening ear, and kind words have been a blessing to all whose lives have crossed paths with Dick. Dick was preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen; his step-mother, Ila Hein; and his brother, William Hein. He is survived by his father, Richard A. Hein of Lake Odessa; his son, Richard (Scarlett) of Oklahoma; and four grandchildren, Kaleb, Kyler, Kiersten, and Kaelin. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on March 17 at the Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 18 at the Koops Funeral Chapel, with a reception to follow at the Central United Methodist Church in Lake Odessa. In lieu of flowers, Dick suggested that memorial contributions could be made to the Eaton Community Hospice in Charlotte, MI.
