He lived in Lake Charles for eighteen years, was a registered architect, accomplished model maker, and BSA Scoutmaster. He loved to spend time with family. He also had a special place in his heart for camping, LEGO, Lord of the Rings, and comedy. In his spare time he enjoyed making models of cars and buildings, even making some models of local downtown buildings. Steve was a member of the Southside church of Christ. He also loved BBQ and Cajun cooking, taking advantage of every opportunity to cook food for loved ones.
Those left to cherish Steve’s memories, and is held in their hearts by son, Seth Maurer and wife Meagan of Trenton, FL; daughter, Crystal Baize and husband Jonathan of Houston, TX; sister, Judy Banowsky and husband Larry of Columbus, GA; five grandchildren: Preston Daniel Baize, Gwendolyn Grace Maurer, Emmett Drew Baize, Sean Ward Maurer, and Emily Elizabeth Maurer.
Steve is forever in our hearts with the lasting impressions he has made on everyone around him. He loved to laugh, tell stories, and share bits of wisdom with all who would listen.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Cypress Creek Community Center at 1pm
