Rosemary “Posy” Kuttner Pauley , 93, of Lake Charles passed away February 4, 2016. Posy was born in 1922 to Col. James Henry Kuttner and Jewel Inez Mullins Kuttner in Lake Charles. Her and her sister Jewel grew up surrounded by love until she met the love of her life, BG Leonard E. Pauley Sr., and they were married in December 1941 and were married for 59 years before his passing January 5, 2001. In 1967 BG Leonard E. Pauley Sr. formed the 256th Sep. Inf. BRGD in which Posy was the 1st, First Lady, and the Mother of The Brigade. Together they raised two sons, Leonard E. “Pete” Pauley Jr. and James Charles “Jim” Pauley.
Posy was a long time member of the Lake Charles Garden Club and the Junior League. She was an avid fisherwoman who broke a long term record at the SW Louisiana Tarpon Rodeo in Cameron, Louisiana while aboard her boat rightfully name the “Miss Posy”. Posy was an excellent cook who could construct any kind of casserole you could think of. She loved to play bridge, tole painting and knitting. A faithful Baptist her whole life she taught preschoolers in Sunday school. While she never met a stranger, Posy was a wonderful and dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved her family more than anything. She will be greatly missed by all of those who knew and loved her and will forever live on in their hearts.
Posy was predeceased by her Parents; James and Inez Kuttner, Sister; Jewel Hightower, Husband; BG Leonard E. Pauley Sr., and Great Granddaughter; Hannah Elizabeth Pauley. She is survived by her Sons: Leonard E. “Pete” (Mary Ellen) Pauley, James Charles “Jim” (Janis) Pauley, Grandchildren; Scott (Dalal) Poche-Pauley, Travis Reed (Pam) Poche-Pauley, Leonard E. “Len”(Christie) Pauley, III., Great Grandchildren; Ariel (Shane), Cade, Ashlyn, Justin, Devon, Jordan, Haleigh, Trevor, Hunter and Elle Jolie, and dear friend and caretaker; Dianne Dugas.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, February 10, 2016 from 11-2:00 pm with Funeral Service at 2:00 pm at Hixson Funeral Home, 3001 Ryan Street. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com
