She attended Grand Lake High School and graduated as Valedictorian of her class. She was also Miss. Teen Louisiana in 1979 and represented Louisiana in the Miss. Teen USA competition. She was an avid collector of Elephants and much like an elephant she never forgot.
She was a devoted Wife and Mother with strong faith and devotion to God. She served as a Stephen Minister for St. Luke Simpson United Methodist Church.
She could be found helping with the youth group on Sunday evenings and VBS in the summer. She worked as Financial Secretary at St. Luke Simpson United Methodist Church in Lake Charles. She loved babies, children, and elderly people. It’s the in between age group that she had a low tolerance for. You always knew where you stood with her, yet she was very compassionate and would do any and everything to help and guide those she loved and cared about. She never hesitated to express her gratitude and praise when it was needed. She had one saying she lived by “You don’t mess with my family or my money!”
She was born to the late Etienne (T-Boy) and Ella Broussard of Sweetlake, LA. She is survived by her beloved husband of 30 years, David Breaux, daughter Kathleen Breaux, and son Daniel Breaux. Also surviving her are her mother Ella Jane Broussard of Grand Lake, three sisters Susan Mahon (Ray) of Hampshire, Texas, Cheryl Powell of Lake Charles, Janet Scott (Andrew) of Lake Charles, two brothers Stephen Broussard (Gloria) of Sweetlake, Gaylord Broussard (Raydessa) of Gueydan, Mother-in-Law, Shirley Breaux of Lake Charles, & Brother-in-law Charles Breaux (Doris) of Lake Charles. She had 7 nieces, 13 nephews, and numerous Godchildren that she loved deeply.
She was preceded in death by her father Etienne (T-Boy) Broussard, brother Jim Boyd Broussard, and Father-in-Law Maurice Breaux.
The family would like to offer their sincere thanks and gratitude to those who helped care for her in her final days of life. First and foremost, her Daughter Kathleen Breaux, niece Candace Broussard, God Child Amanda Broussard Bufford & wife Lindsey Bufford, and Heart of Hospice.
