Ira Owen Walker

Sonny was a lifelong resident of Westlake, Louisiana and retired from W.R. Grace where he was a Mechanical Engineer. He also served as the President of the Davidson Employees Federal Credit Union; was a veteran of the United States Air Force; and enjoyed bass fishing with his friends and spending time with family.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 52 years, Linda Walker; daughter, Daphne Walker Bell and husband, Patrick of Lumberton, TX; daughter, Chris Ann Walker of Westlake, LA; three grandchildren, John, Walker and Owen Bell; sisters, Freda Walker Bailey, and Shirley Walker Haire; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Walker, mother, Ruby Walker, sisters, Rebecca Walker, Barbara Wygant, and brother, Danny Walker.

A Celebration of Sonny’s Life will be held from 4-6pm, on Saturday, October 6, at the Pomeroy Center at Westlake United Methodist Church, 704 Johnson Road, Westlake, Louisiana. Friends and family are encouraged to stop by at any time.

Donations in memory of Ira Owen “Sonny” Walker can be made to St. Nicholas Center for Children, 2519 Ryan Street, Lake Charles, LA 70601. He had a special place in his heart for children with autism.
