Barbara Broussard

Barbara ‘Gail’ Pounders Broussard, 75, of Lake Charles, Louisiana passed away on July 18, 2023 peacefully at home. She was born on September 3, 1947 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the parents of Carl Hollis Pounders (1920-2007) and Lotha Marie Eagle (1926-1990). She was a long-time resident of Lake Charles and a 1965 graduate of LaGrange High School, but lived in Dallas, Texas for many years.

Gail was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Wayne Pounders (1940-2021) and is survived by two sisters, Jo Ann Yelvington and Pamela Faye Sheffer. Gail had no children, but was adored by her four nieces; Karen Williams, Donna Landry, Carla Savittiere, and Nanette Evans. Her great nephews are Dustin Williams, Micah Williams, Corey Charlet, Ian Evans, David Savittiere, Jr.; great nieces are Morgan Blount, Grace Landry, Cassidy Evans, Ella Evans, and Cara Charlet. The absolute joy of her life was her great-great nephew and niece, Wyatt and Edie Williams. Gail loved deeply and was loved by many friends. Her lifelong friend Tommie Roundtree Crick was by her side until the end.

A gathering of friends and relatives will be held at Hixson Funeral Home (3001 Ryan St. Lake Charles, La. 70601) on Sunday, July 23, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
