Robert Covington Clore, of Goshen, Kentucky, died peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family on the 23rd day of September, 2022. Rob was born to Oren and Sue Clore on November 7, 1958, and raised on the Clore family farm along with his brother, Brann.
A gifted musician, Rob studied music at Austin Peay State University, and business at WKU, but farming would always be his first choice. He courted Catherine Crass, the daughter of family friends, and they married in LaGrange Christian Church on July 28, 1984.
Small farms struggled in the 1980s, so Rob and Cathy struck out to find a different path. Rob enlisted in the US Army and proudly served as a helicopter crew chief at Ft. Carson, Colorado, Camp Stanley, South Korea, and Ft. Drum, New York. Their first daughter was born in New York in 1990 and they returned to Oldham County a year later. Rob began a civilian career in aircraft maintenance, retiring from UPS in 2018.
Rob and Cathy went on to raise their children Dabney, Mary, and John in the house where Rob’s great-great-grandparents lived. This house will remain one of Rob’s legacies as he worked most of his life to restore it with care and make it a beautiful home. He loved his farm, White Oak Point, and his grateful stewardship is a gift Rob leaves to his family.
Another is music - Rob loved and played music wherever he was, joining bar bands and porch jams, and most recently with the worship team at Southeast Christian Church. Playing with the fine young musicians there brought him great joy.
Rob taught his family and friends to think creatively and resourcefully, to be bold with our dreams and strong in our faith while seeking our own paths. This unwavering faith is perhaps his greatest legacy of all.
Predeceased by his father, Oren B. Clore, Jr., Rob leaves his mother Sue Clore, brother Brann (Kimberly) Clore, sister-in-law Karen (Chuck) Krill, wife Catherine, children Dabney (Jordan Jakoby), Mary, and John (DeMaris Gee), a beautifully bright granddaughter Viola Lillian Jakoby, nieces and nephews he adored, and many, many cherished friends, all to honor his memory.
A funeral service will be held for Rob at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 706 W Jefferson St, LaGrange, KY at 11am on Thursday, September 29, 2022 with burial to follow at Harrods Creek Cemetery in Crestwood. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 4-8pm. A celebration of life will be held immediately following the graveside service at White Oak Point.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hosparus Health, The Nature Conservancy (Kentucky), and Louisville Public Media.
