He was born to the late Sonny and Joyce Powell on November 25, 1959 in Louisville, Kentucky.
Freddie was the proud owner of Freddie Powell Excavating and was very prideful of his quality work. Freddie was also a proud member of the TNT Truck and Tractor pull and Kentuckiana Truck Pullers Association (KTPA) and has been pulling since 1979. He was recognized in the pulling world as a legend, and known best for driving the Super Slimer and Mr. Diamond-T.
Freddie made an impact on everyone he met with his contagious smile and big heart. He was a loyal, honest and hardworking man. Freddie knew how to put a smile on anyone’s face with his joking personality. He was the best husband, dad, papaw and friend. Freddie truly made this world a better place with him in it and we will miss him dearly.
He is preceded in death by brothers; Eddie Powell and Teddy Powell.
Left to cherish the memory of Freddie are his wife of 35 years; Sanci Lynn Powell, children; Amanda Powell-Peyton (Brian), Darrell Frederick Powell Jr. and Misti Sharee Powell Edelen (Scott), 4 grandchildren; Zachary Peyton (Carissa), Makenzey Peyton, Makenley Peyton and Josie Sharee Edelen, great-granddaughter; Tynnslee Peyton, siblings; Debbie Stamper, Thomas Powell (Amy) and Bobby Powell, extended family and friends.
A celebration of Freddie's life will be held at Covenant UMC on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 1pm with burial to follow at Harrod's Creek Cemetery in Brownsboro, KY. Visitation will be on Friday evening at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home from 3-8pm and Saturday at the church from 11am until the start of the service.
