Paul Albert Arnholt, 84, of LaGrange, GA went home to be with the Lord, on November 6, 2024, in the company of those who loved him. Paul was born on February 28, 1940, in Abington, PA, to the late Louis A. Arnholt, Jr., and Elizabeth Arnholt (Kline). He is predeceased by his brother Kenneth and sister-in-law Susan (Otto). Paul touched the lives of all who knew him with grace and kindness.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Terry Arnholt (Nack), and his five children: David Arnholt (Judie) of Cambridge City, IN; Catherine Pedler (David) of Albany, NY; Rebecca Yoder (Jonathan) of Tucker, GA; Judith Torres (Jose) of Tucker, GA; and foster son, Bill Halladay of Chattanooga, TN. Known to them as Poppy, he will be dearly missed by his beloved grandchildren: Lauren, Carson, Austin, Matthew, Heath, Kalea and Isabella.
Paul’s life was synchronous with the modern transportation age. As a teenager he worked in his father’s service station in Fort Washington, PA, just off the Pennsylvania Turnpike. This fueled his passion for the hotrods he drove as a youth and the prized Ford Model T he’d take out for a spin in more recent years. While still in high school he enlisted in the Naval Air Reserve at Willow Grove, PA, where he served for six years, later retiring from the Reserves as an E8, Senior Chief in 1995. He became an air traffic controller in 1960, which ultimately led him to a distinguished career in the Federal Aviation Administration from 1969 until his retirement in 1995.
Never one to let dust gather, he accepted a position as tenured Associate Professor of Aviation Science at the Community College of Beaver County in Pennsylvania until he and Terry moved to Stuart, Fl. As a founding member of the CTI program, he encouraged young men and women to pursue a career in air traffic control and impacted many lives by his example.
Following retirement from CCBC, he enjoyed spending time with his family traveling around the country and around the world, while also enjoying life in the mountains and around the lakes of West Virginia and Georgia, as well as the sunshine and beaches of Florida.
Wherever he resided, he was a faithful member and leader in the local church, sharing the love of Christ with joy and enthusiasm.
