Manuel Garcia

A loving son, husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many, passed peacefully with family near his side.

Manuel grew up in San Diego and he was the oldest of four children- Eulalia, Ofelia (deceased), Robert- born to Jesus and Catalina Garcia.

Manuel graduated from San Diego High School where he met and eventually married his sweetheart, Viola Alvarez, on October 29, 1950. Two months later, he was inducted into the U.S. Army where he proudly served during the Korean war.

After returning from Korea, Manuel and Viola settled in La Mesa where they raised their three children. Manuel owned and operated TMA Interior Designs with two partners located in downtown San Diego for many years, while he still found time to be very involved with his children’s activities when they were growing up. Additionally, he spent countless hours watching virtually all his grandchildren’s sports and activities.

Predeceased by his loving wife Viola and son Daniel. Survived by his adoring children, son Richard (Linda), daughter Patricia (Ron), daughter-in- law Pamela Hughes, ten grandchildren - Daniel, Marcus, Kimberly, Andrea, Aaron, Lance, Ashleigh, Tyler, Alyssa, and Alanna, twenty great-grandchildren, and faithful companion Angela Lieras.

Visitation will be Friday, May 6 from 10:30AM – 11:30AM at Erickson-Anderson Mortuary with graveside services to follow at 12:30PM, Greenwood Cemetery.
