Lynne Salmon was a second generation San Diegan, and grew up in the La Mesa/Lemon Grove area. She lived there until the mid 70’s then she moved with her family to Northern Virginia. For 30 years she enjoyed raising her two children, camping, waterskiing, and traveling all over the world with her husband Tom. Lynne was always involved in her children’s activities whether it was Girl Scouts, soccer, diving, and especially waterskiing. She loved sitting in the boat watching them ski. She was especially proud of her volunteer work at Fairfax Hospital. In 2005 she finally convinced Tom to retire and they moved back to La Mesa.
Lynne was predeceased by her mother Marian Elling, her step father Lang Elling and her brother William Shanks. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Tom, her son Steve and wife Megan, daughter Carrie, and grandsons Bryce and Ryan.
There will never be another woman like Lynne, with her winning personality and beautiful smile. She was a compassionate, kind and considerate person. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
