LaVern was born on September 9, 1937 to Wayne and Grace Carter in Albany, Missouri. He was
the oldest of 4 boys, LaVern, Earl and twins Ray and Kay. LaVern grew up on a dairy farm in
Albany, Missouri. When he was 16 he moved to Bard, California right outside of Yuma, Arizona.
He graduated as a Yuma High Criminal, class of 1955. LaVern worked for Laura Schudder as a
Chip delivery routeman, American (Alsco) Linen and eventually started his own business, Kelco
Packaging Products. He resided in San Diego, CA. LaVern was preceded in death by his
parents Wayne and Grace Carter of Yuma, AZ., his brother Ray Carter of Yuma, AZ. and his
beautiful wife Earlene Carter of San Diego, CA. LaVern is survived by his daughter Lesile
(Scott) Kramer of Casa Grande, AZ., his son Brian (Joy) Carter of Yuma, AZ. and his daughter
Leah (Donald) Laing of Spring Valley, CA. His grandchildren Chad (Katie) Kramer of Casa
Grande, AZ. Lindsey (Chad) McWhirter of Tucson, AZ. Craig Carter of Anchorage, Alaska,
Elijah Laing, Isaac Laing and Rebekah Laing of Spring Valley, CA. His great grandchildren Ava
and Zoe Kramer of Casa Grande, AZ. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews that he
loved very much. He was a member of First Christian Church in Yuma and Christian Church of
Lemon Grove.
Services will be held Saturday, January 29th at 1pm at the Christian Church of Lemon Grove
6970 San Miguel Ave Lemon Grove, CA. 91945. Flowers or donations may be made to the
church.
