Maria Z. Jimenez

Harlingen, Texas - Maria Zamorano Jimenez, age 87, passed away on October 12, 2023, in Harlingen, Texas. She was born on December 17, 1935, in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico. Maria was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her many children. She was known for her caring nature, joyful presence and radiant smile when surrounded by family and friends. Maria had a deep love for Corridos and could often be heard listening to and singing them at home. Her homemade tea, tortillas, rice, beans, and delicious Mexican food will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her father, Alvaro Zamorano, mother Guadalupe Bermudez Zamorano, and her husband, Jose P. Jimenez.

Maria is survived by her loving children, Jesus (Sandra), Josefina (Cesar), Jose Virgilio (Lety), Victor Guadalupe (Stephanie), Valentin (Laura), Maria Isabel (Omar), Carmen (Elias), and Jose Jr. (Esmeralda). She is also survived by her brothers Ernesto Zamorano, Alvaro Zamorano, Roberto Zamorano, Jose Luis Trevino, and her sisters Delfina Zamorano Cano and Dominga Zamorano Fernandez. In addition, Maria leaves behind her grandchildren Cassandra, Emma, Mark, Megan, Justin, Blake, Jeanne, Amanda, Victor, Gabriela, Brandon, Henry, Adrian, Jennifer, Debrah, Joseph, Josue, and Juliza, as well as great-grandchildren Alexander and Camila.

Maria attended Revolucion Primary School in Mexico in the 1940s till the 4th grade, and it was this love and passion for education that she instilled in her children and grandchildren.

Funeral services for Maria Zamorano Jimenez are entrusted to Heavenly Grace Funeral Home & Crematory, located at 26873 N. White Ranch Rd., La Feria, Texas 78559. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a religious ceremony recited at 7:00 pm. Interment will follow on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at 11:00 am at Restlawn Memorial Park in La Feria, Texas.
