October 23, 1953 – March 25, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Irma DeLeon Tijerina, lovingly known as "Mima" to her family and friends and "Grammy" to her cherished grandchildren. On the morning of March 25, 2025, she was welcomed into Heaven, reuniting with her beloved husband, Raymond Tijerina.
Born and raised in Harlingen, Texas, Irma was a proud graduate of Harlingen High School, Class of 1973. She remained deeply connected to her classmates, always looking forward to their celebrations and reunions. Her warmth, kindness, and boundless love for life shone through in everything she did.
Irma dedicated 31 years to the Harlingen Consolidated School District’s Transportation Department as a Special Education School Bus Monitor. With patience and compassion, she touched the lives of countless special needs students and their families, making a lasting impact in her community.
Beyond her career, Irma had a passion for celebrating life. She loved dancing, reading, photography, and traveling, always seeking joy in every moment. She was also deeply involved in civic engagement, tirelessly supporting local political candidates and volunteering her time to causes close to her heart.
Above all, Irma’s greatest joy was her family. She leaves behind two daughters, Anna Prince and Patricia Mendoza, and three beloved grandchildren, Seth, Evins, and Trinity. Her unwavering love, strength, and kindness will forever live on through them.
Though our hearts ache with her loss, we take comfort in knowing that her legacy of love and service will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will remain with us always.
