Theodore “Ted” Carlson, age 89, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2018 while surrounded by his loving family at Community Howard Regional Health in Kokomo. Ted was born on April 6, 1929 in Allen County, Indiana to the late Harry and Wilma (Wenner) Carlson.
Ted graduated from Kokomo High School with the class of 1949. Following high school, Ted enlisted in the United States Army and served two years on active duty, and then for the National Guard. When Ted returned from active duty, he was employed by the Kokomo Fire Department and served as a firefighter for 29 years before retiring in 1982.
On December 17, 1981, Ted was married to the love of his life, Sandra (Lawrie) Carlson in Kokomo, and she survives. Ted attended Grace Fellowship Church in Kokomo and also held memberships for the National Rifle Association, Moose Lodge, and the VFW. His favorite activities included building radios, reading, golfing, fishing, and camping.
In addition to his wife, Sandra, Ted is survived by his sons, Stephen Carlson and Mitchell Carlson; sister, Marlene Bowland; grandson, Chace (Theresa) Carlson; and 3 great grandchildren.
There will be a public visitation for Ted held at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home on Friday, May 11th from 11-1, with a funeral service immediately following.
