Shirley Jean Vaught, 74, passed away on May 14, 2017 at North Woods Village. She was born to Edgar and Margaret Collard on August 28, 1942 in Kokomo. Shirley worked for Delco for 10 years, raised her three children, and went on to own Jack’s Tackle Center with her husband Jack Vaught. He precedes her in death.
She taught her grandkids how to count money in the tackle shop, how to cook, and later, how to drive. While Jack was on fishing trips, the grandkids were welcomed to climb into the waterbed. She also loved to crochet and make spinner baits. She gave good hugs. Shirley was always there when you were in trouble.
Shirley is survived by her two sons, Brian and Adam Vaught; grandchildren Beth, Sara, Owen, Cody, and Jenna; and great-grandson Quinn.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and daughter Dana.
Friends and family may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 18 at Ellers Main Street Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 19, at 10:00 a.m., also at Ellers Main Street Chapel. Shirley will be laid to rest at Nevada Cemetery.
