Shortly after graduating from Kokomo High School, Karen was employed by Delco Electronics of Kokomo. She retired from Delco in 1999, after putting in 30 years as an inspector and stocker.
Karen enjoyed watching soap operas and collecting Christmas crafts. Her favorite vacation spot was in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. She also loved animals, especially cardinals and her dog, Maddie Mae. Most of all, Karen enjoyed spending time with her family.
Karen is survived by her children, Lynn (fiancé, Rhett Richardson) Wallace, and Steve (Robin) Carroll; sister, Connie (Larry) Tudor; brother, John Shine; grandchildren, Tara (Nicholas) Dillman, William (Koi) Wallace, Jeromy Carroll, Katie (Logan) Sharp, and Tyler Carroll; and twelve great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by a son, Robert Carroll; half-brother, William Hardesty; half-sister, Carmen Kessler; and a grandson, Steven Carroll.
There will be a public visitation for Karen held at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home on Thursday, July 5th from 1-2 pm, followed by a service at the mausoleum chapel at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
Karen’s family would like to acknowledge the nurses at Great Lakes Hospice for the care that they provided during Karen’s final days.
