James H. Boardman

James H. Boardman, age 73, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 in Kokomo. James was born on June 12, 1946 in Lafayette, Indiana to the late James and Mildred (Hughes) Boardman. James graduated from high school in 1965, and then earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Indiana University of Bloomington in 1969. He then worked as a teacher at Martinsville and Indian Heights School, before landing work at Delco Electronics where he retired from after 28 years of employment. On June 1, 1968, James was married to the love of his life, Patricia (Herrington) in Kokomo, and she survives. James had attended Bible Baptist Church in Kokomo with his children as they were growing up, and although he stopped attending, he never lost his faith in the Lord. In his free time, James enjoyed being a bargain shopper, and also liked putting food out for squirrels and birds. More than anything, James was a dog lover and always made sure they were well cared for. In addition to his wife, Patricia Boardman, James is survived by his children, Rebecca (Stephen) Smith, and James Patrick Boardman; and grandchildren, Zachary Smith, Levi Smith, Kamryn Boardman, and Jayla Jones. There will be a visitation for James held at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home on Saturday, January 18th from 11 am – 1 pm, followed immediately by a funeral service. James will then be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
