Christopher Michael Ray Salinas, 24, Kokomo, passed away at 9:09 PM Tuesday October 22, 2019 at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born July 5, 1995 in Kokomo, he was the son of Chris Salinas and Nicole Shrader, both of Kokomo. He was a 2013 graduate of Kokomo High School. Following graduation he enlisted into the United States Marine Corp where he served in Virginia, California, Spain, Cuba and Ukraine, until September 2018. In March 2019 he was employed as a correctional officer at the Miami County Correctional Facility. Christopher was very charismatic and loved by everyone he met; he made many friends all over the world in the service and at the correctional facility whom he enjoyed spending time with. Christopher had many hobbies, but his favorites were playing baseball, spending time with friends and family and playing various games with his brothers.
Survivors include his father Chris Salinas; his mother Nicole Shrader; three brothers Blake Salinas, Ethan Salinas and Logan Salinas; three half-sisters LaBrittney Smith, Alexis Blakley and Jayla Jones; paternal grandparents Raynaldo Salinas and Julia Corsair; maternal grandparents Cindy Shrader and Buddy (Vicky) Shrader; Maternal great grandmother Mary Aaron-Ticen, all of Kokomo. There are also many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorial services with Military Rites by the U.S. Marine Corp and the Kokomo Military Rites Team will be at 3:00 PM Tuesday October 29, 2019 at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo. Pastor Michael Alley will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Tuesday at the mortuary. Memorials may be directed to the family.
