William (Billy) Heck Sr., age 74, of Knoxville, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 28, 2021 following a short battle with cancer. Billy was born January 5, 1947 in Knoxville, TN to Robert and Colleen Heck. Billy was a criminal investigator with the Knoxville Police Department for 31 years. He was a devoted member of Cedar Lane Methodist Church. Billy was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. Billy will always be remembered by his quick wit, storytelling, and giving spirit. He is preceded in death by his father Robert Franklin Heck, mother Colleen Heck Herendon and stepfather Vernon Herendon. He is survived by son Billy Heck Jr. (Veronica), daughter Candice Dingus (Jim) and son Brandon Heck (Chezlee). Grandchildren Kelsey and Robby Heck III, Andrew Dingus and Hensley Heck. Sister Judy Newcomb (Paul) and brother Timmy Heck (Lisa). Stepsisters Tina, Lorie and Merry Anne and several nieces and nephews. Billy will be greatly missed by many lifelong friends who he enjoyed meeting most days for breakfast and dinner. A special thank you to Oscar and crew at the Halls Cuban Deli.
A visitation will be held Monday, November 1, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home, 2300 West Adair Drive, Knoxville, TN 37918. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Cedar Lane United Methodist Church, 714 Cedar Lane, Knoxville, TN 37912. A graveside service with Honor Guard will immediately follow Tuesday at Lynnhurst Cemetery. Pallbearers: Paul Newcomb, Timmy Heck, Corey Heck, Oscar De Cardenas, Ronald (Blue) Lequire, Brian Buchanan and Todd Cook. Honorary pallbearer and great friend Jim Pate.
