William Franklin (Bill) Dalton Jr., age 93, passed away on June 21, 2022 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Jana and Chuck Spicka. After losing his wife November 1, 2020, he has longed to go "home".
Born April 30,1929, Bill lived an active life up until a few years ago when he became confined to a wheelchair. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved God, his family, his church and his country. Bill and Lou were long time members of the United Methodist Church serving over the years at Vestal, Union Grove and most recently at St. Mark's in Louisville, TN.
A WWII veteran, he held several jobs during his life. He worked for National Cash Register Co., then as a TN State Trooper, an insurance adjuster, and briefly owned a coffee franchise. He retired in 1990 from Robert Shaw Controls as a Senior Process Engineer.
Bill is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years Vira Lou Hagaman Dalton, his parents William Franklin Sr. and Sylvia DeBord Dalton and his sister Wanda Dalton Smith. He is loved and missed by his children Lou Ann Taylor and husband Harold, Mike Dalton and wife Bobbie, Darrell Dalton and partner Barbara Cosby, and Jana Spicka and husband Chuck. He was especially proud to be a Grandpa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Ben Taylor and wife Angela, their children Benjamin and Ethan. Tom Taylor and wife Amy, their children Kaydance, Paiton and Lexi. Chelsi Ellis and husband Josh, their children Dara and Aida. Salem Spicka and Charis Spicka. Chris Seay and wife Missi, their daughter Gabby. Isaiah Cosby, Meila Cosby and Emma Cosby. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to Jana and Chuck for the care of Bill in their home along with his caregivers, Christine Harris, Erik Hindenburg, Paige Martin, Keturah Moon and Sabrina Magee. Also Avalon Hospice for their invaluable care, help and guidance over the past 2 years.
The family welcomes friends for a Visitation Service on Monday, June 27, 2022 at 1pm at Berry Highland South Funeral Home with a Funeral Service at 2pm. An Interment Service is to follow at Berry Highland South in the Garden of Gospels.
