Shirley Jean Noonan, 86, born in Johnson City, TN on July 31, 1935, passed away on September 10, 2021 in Powell, TN. Lovingly known by many as Momma Shirley, she lived a life of beauty and grace anchored in our Lord and Savior. She lived every day joyfully caring for and loving her beautiful daughter Belinda. Shirley’s life was centered in serving her family and friends and her abundant love for the Sunshine Class and Helping Hands Class cannot be measured. She dedicated 30 years of her life serving others during her career at Parkwest Hospital.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents Charles Anderson and Dovie Taylor, husband Robert Webster Noonan, sisters Betty Marcum and Louise Morgan and brothers in-law Bill Marcum and Norman Moody. Shirley is survived by her four children, Robert Webster Noonan II and wife, Julie Noonan, Kenneth Jude Noonan and wife, Brenda Noonan and Martina Teresa Kitts and husband, Mike Kitts and her precious Belinda Anne Noonan. Grandchildren Dominique Allana Chitwood and husband, Andrew Chitwood, Joseph Hunter Sizemore and Preston Noonan. Great-grandchildren Canaan, River, Jonah and Thatcher Chitwood. Shirley is survived by sister’s Barbara Moody and Sharon Grindstaff and husband Harlan as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends. Thank you for all who have reached out to her with loving notes, prayers and flowers over the past few months. Momma Shirley will be missed beyond belief. Her trust in the Lord is well known and her footprint on this world will remain. We know in our heavy hearts just as she had written in her bible, ”We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.” II Corinthians 5:8.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM in the Westwood Chapel of Berry Highland Memorial, 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, Tennessee 37919. There will be a funeral service at 2:00 PM followed by committal in Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery.
