ROY E. LOVEDAY – age 90 of Knoxville, passed away Monday, January 30, 2017 at Ben Atchley State Veterans Home. He was an active member of Karns Church of Christ. He was very active in the political arena of the Karns (Knox Co.) elections overseeing the elections in his community. Roy was a U.S. Army veteran serving in WWII at the rank of Corporal. He drove a truck for Y-12 and was a member of the Teamsters Union. Later he sold insurance for Life and Casualty and won many awards and trips for outstanding sales. He enjoyed camping and fishing with his grandchildren. Preceded in death by an infant son; parents, Melvin and Mary Loveday; two brothers and four sisters. Roy is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Emma Cogdill Loveday; daughters, Janice Elliott and husband, John and Vicki Smith and husband Richard all of Knoxville; grandchildren, Scott Elliott, Casey Elliott, Heather Hill, Russell Smith, Barry Smith, Cindy Wetzel and eight great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews and extended family members and special friends. Family will receive friends Friday in Weaver’s chapel from 5-7 pm with service to follow at 7:00 pm. Family and friends will meet Monday at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on John Sevier Highway at 1:45 pm for a 2 pm interment.
