Rebecca Boyd Sullins

It is with great sadness that the Sullins family would like to announce the passing of Mrs. Rebecca (Becky) Jane Boyd Sullins, 66, this past Saturday August 19, 2023 at Specialty Select Hospital after a long battle with cancer. Becky was a very loving mother and grandmother who will be fondly remembered, but sadly missed by her family, friends, and her ever faithful dog Buddy. Born in Tazewell County Virginia, she grew up in Honaker and graduated from Lebanon High School where she was a proud member of their majorette corps. After high school she attended East Tennessee State University, received her bachelor's degree from Southwest Virginia Community College, her teaching certificate from Concord College in Athens, West Virginia, and was a member of the Kappa Delta sorority. Becky taught at Prince George County schools and then had a long career in the banking and the mortgage lending industry. She always enjoyed decorating, organizing gatherings for co-workers and family, spending time with her grandchildren, relaxing with her dear friend Sharon Jones, and cheering on her beloved Tennessee Volunteers.

Mrs. Sullins was preceded in death by her brother Robert P. Boyd, mother Marguerite Miller Boyd, and father Ellis Jefferson Boyd Jr.. Survived by her ever-loving husband R. Wayne Sullins, daughters Christine Short Friedman and Chrissie Elizabeth Doner, sons Michael Shane Sullins and Joshua Scott Sullins, niece Valery Boyd Temple, nephew Randy Boyd, 5 grandchildren, sister in-law Joyce Cook Boyd and 3 sisters.

The family will be receiving friends from 12-2pm followed by the service at 2pm this Saturday, August 23 at Berry Highland West in Knoxville, TN. with Pastor Danny Matthews from Two Rivers Church presiding over the service. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a charitable donation be given to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
