Pete "Poppy" R. Brown

Peyton "Pete" "Poppy" R. Brown, Jr., age 76, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2023. He was raised and lived in Chattanooga, TN before moving to the Knoxville area in 1975. Pete served in the US Army from 1967 to 1969 seeing combat with the 9th Infantry Division in Viet Nam of which he took NO pride in. He was a member of Fountain City United Methodist Church. Pete retired from TVA with most of his time spent at Bull Run Fossil Plant.

Pete was preceded in death by parents, Peyton R. and Archileen F. Brown; step-son, Brent Hodge; beloved brother-in-law, Bodkin Smith. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth K. Brown; daughters, Reagan (Ron) Beard and Stacy (Larry) Thompson; grandchildren, Tevin Gunn, Madysen McEntire, Abbey Thompson, Blake Thompson; step-grandchildren, Tyler Beard, Bryce Hodge and Laken Hodge; sister, Beverly Smith; niece, Karen Campbell; and nephew, Greg Smith.

Family will receive friends Wednesday, August 2nd from 1-2pm with Celebration of Life immediately following at Fountain City United Methodist Church, 212 Hotel Road, Knoxville, TN 37918. Rev. Don Hanshew officiating. In lieu of flowers, PLEASE make donations to the animal shelter/animal rescue group of your choice or Fountain City United Methodist Church.
