

Paul Walter Pickens, age 85 of Knoxville, was promoted to his Heavenly home to meet his Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 20, 2025. He was born October 13, 1939. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1960.
Paul has been a devoted member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church for 73 years, serving in many capacities in the church. He led 13 mission trips to Brazil, taught Sunday School for 65 years, founded the senior adults class in 1991, and had a passion for studying and sharing the Bible with others.
He taught history at Powell High, Doyle High, and South Doyle High for over 20 years.
Preceded in death by his parents, Fred Pickens, Sr. and Willie Keller; siblings: Lloyd Keller, James Pickens, John Pickens, and Judy Dillon.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Minta Pickens; daughter, Paula Scott (Monty); brothers: Fred Pickens, Jr. (Glenda), Tony Keller (Ruth); sisters: Glenda Maher (Mike), Jenny Chambers; grandchildren: Zachary Scott (Sarah), Christopher Scott, Olivia Scott, and Jackson Scott; great-grandchildren: Emma Scott and Samuel Scott.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 4:00 PM on Monday, March 24, 2025 at Sevier Heights Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to God’s Warehouse, 3441 W Andrew Johnson Hwy, Morristown, TN 37814, or One Vision International, P.O. Box 20608, Knoxville, TN 37940 in honor of Paul.
