Nancy Lou Brown

Brown, Nancy L., age 87, of Knoxville, passed away at home surrounded by her children on Sunday, September 1, 2013. She was a 1944 graduate of Knoxville High School and was a proud alumna. She had an accomplished and successful career working for several coal companies in the Knoxville area. Nancy enjoyed spending time with her family, working in her garden, and having a good laugh with friends on the golf course. She was dearly loved by her family and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by husband Benny Brown and was the last surviving child of William and Hazel Smith. Nancy is survived by her daughter, Sharen Bowden; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Davia Brown; son Keith Brown; son-in-law Stan Bowden; grandchildren, Kristen Bowden, Melissa and husband Jay Gibbons, Katie Brown, Claire, Thad, and Alex Brown; great-grandchildren Nicko and Lauren Bernier, Alex, Scott, and Jamie Gibbons. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 from 5:30 to 7:30pm at Berry Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet for a graveside service on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 1:00pm at Mt. Olive Cemetery off Maryville Pike on Mt. Olive Road, Knoxville, TN 37920.
