Morton, Martha Jean Anderson Alexander (75) of Seymour, TN went to be with her loving Savior on Sunday, March 13, 2016; with her son, Chris, by her side. Martha professed her faith at the age of thirteen at First Christian Church of Union City, TN and followed the Lord through her life. She was a woman of strong faith, believing in the power and strength of Jesus Christ’s love and the beauty and peace that would await her after her passing. She had a kind and very gentle soul, with a loving and generous heart. Martha was always giving to others. She was a current member of Galilee Baptist Church and previous member of Seymour First Baptist Church and Friendship Sunday School class. Martha graduated from Union City High School in 1959 and furthered her career by attending Memphis State University School of Nursing, graduating in 1961. She was an LPN for 37 years. Martha was very active in civic organizations including; AWANA, CROSS Food Ministries, Serenity Shelter, World Changers, and Operation Christmas Child. Martha leaves her precious memories to be cherished by her loving husband and best friend, Jim R Morton. We want to recognize the Morton family for their support and prayers during this difficult time; Pamella and Paul Jeffries, Mike and Paula Morton, Angie Sims and family, Shelley and Roger Pickens and family, Karen and John Hackworth and family, and Steve Morton. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, William and Dorothy Anderson. She is survived by the rest of the family including her sons; Chris (Judy) Alexander, Jeff Alexander; grandchildren; Chris (Amanda) Hackworth, Amanda (Patrick) Boshers, Megan Morton, Samuel Morton, Logan Sims, Katie Sims, Blake Pickens, Tiffany Pickens, RJ Pickens, Ryan Alexander, Sean Alexander, Jordan Alexander; sister, Shelia Carroll; sister-in-law, Dot Maples; niece, Elizabeth Crenshaw; a very special friend, Shirley Clark. Family will receive friends Tuesday, March 15th from 1:00-2:00 pm at Berry Highland South on Simpson Road with Celebration of Life service following at 2:00 pm. Rev.
