Louise Gillespie Cook

Louise Gillespie Cook, age 89, of South Knoxville, passed away March 28, 2025. Louise was a graduate of Harrison-Chilhowee Baptist Academy class of 1954 and a graduate of Knoxville Business College. After college, Louise began her working career at Fielden Furniture Company on Gay Street for 15 years and retired from Home Federal Bank with 22 years of service. She was an active member at Mount Olive Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, James Marshal Gillespie and Mabel Louise Gibson Gillespie; sister, Wilma Gillespie Cotter; nephew, Mike Cotter.

Louise is survived by her husband of 63 years, Lowell Cook; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Susan Cook; grandson, Andrew Cook; brother-in-law, Arnold Cotter; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Fred and Glenda Pickens and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Smoky Mountain Hospice and Autumn Care West for their excellent care.

The family will receive friends 12-2 pm Tuesday, April 1, 2025 in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway with a Celebration of Life Service at 2 pm. Dr. Kirby Ownby officiating. Interment to follow at Berry Highland South Cemetery.
