Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother Mrs. Lou Fema Ross of Knoxville, TN departed this life and joined her Savior Jesus Christ on the morning of May 14, 2021. She was born November 15th, 1930, in Redbird, Kentucky, the child of George Matt Asher and Verda Mae (Creech) Asher. She was the last survivor of seven children, being predeceased by sisters Sally Slusher, Fan Howard, and George Ellen Gay, plus brothers Clayton Asher, Douglas Asher and Colson Asher. Mrs. Ross was also predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Glenn D. Ross, who passed away September 14, 2007.
She leaves behind 3 daughters, Susan Sims (Don) of Knoxville, TN, Melissa Ross (John Baca) of Knoxville, TN, Deborah Acuff (David, Brownie and Trixie) of Bristol, VA, and one son, Patrick Ross (Rhonda) of Belleville, IL, all of whom will miss her greatly. Although she loved all in her family she was particularly fond of her grandchildren: Donald Sims Jr. (Kinsey) of Alamogordo, NM; Stephanie Sims of Knoxville, TN; Eric Sims of Knoxville, TN; Colby Ross (Kendra) of Belleville, IL; Kristin Wilmes (Todd) of Belleville, IL; Casey Baca (Diana) of Madison, WI; and Blaise Baca (Holly) of Magnolia, DE. Kristen and Todd are the parents of great grandchildren Brody, Leila, and Bella; Colby and Kendra Ross are the parents of great grandchildren John, Tyler and Jordynn; and Blaise and Holly Baca are the parents of great grandson Thomas A. Baca.
As a military wife of several decades Mrs. Ross enjoyed seeing many memorable places, among them Japan, California, Hawaii, and Colorado, but her favorite beauty spot was the one closest to home: the Smokies, especially in the Fall.
Mrs. Ross will be laid to rest in a small ceremony with family and friends at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 21st at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery Lyons View.
