Lisa Marshall

Lisa Marshall, after a brave two-year battle with cancer, passed away peacefully at her home on June 18, 2016 in Knoxville, TN at the age of 57. She leaves behind her children, Jordan and Kara Sowards; her sister, Jennifer Jarrett; her mother, Lynne Marshall; her second husband, Brian Osterman; her daughter-in-law, Morgan Sowards; her brother-in-law, Ron Jarrett; and her nephews Christopher, Stephen, and Nicholas Jarrett. She is preceded in death by her father, Jerry Marshall; as well as her first husband and father to her children, Doug Sowards.

Lisa was born on September 1, 1958 in Knoxville, TN, where she graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She worked in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at UT Hospital for nearly 20 years, before moving to East Tennessee Children’s Hospital where she would rise to the position of Director of Employment for the hospital. Lisa would go on to earn her Master of Healthcare Administration degree while working full time and undergoing treatment for pancreatic cancer.

Lisa was an animal lover, an avid reader, a style maven, a football fanatic, and loved going to the beach more than you or anyone you know.

A celebratory reception in Lisa’s honor is scheduled for Wednesday, June 22, 2016 from 5 pm until 8 pm at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home with a service to follow at 8 pm. Fred Randles, Lisa’s youth pastor and longtime friend, will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend.
