He was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Powell for 36 years and worked in the bus ministry for over 40 years. Joe served in the Navy during the Korean War.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Madelene Carol Martin; and parents, Thomas and Myrtle Martin. He is survived by his three children, James Martin (Cindi), Debora Jones (Russell) and Tracy Blair (Troy); 9 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Wednesday, August 31st with funeral service to follow at 7pm at Temple Baptist Church, 1700 W. Beaver Creek Dr. Powell, TN 37849. Dr. Clarence Sexton, Rev. Roger Hilliard and Rev. Harold Clayton will officiate. Family and friends will meet at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E. Gov. John Sevier Hwy. Knoxville, TN 37920 for the graveside service Thursday, September 1st at 10am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Temple Baptist Church Bus Ministry.
