CARTER, JIM - age 67, of Knoxville, passed away Friday, May 2, 2014 at Oak Ridge Methodist Medical Center. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served as a Medic in Vietnam; a life, long supporter of the University of Tennessee athletic programs; served as Director of District Sales at BCBS of Tennessee from 1969 to 1984; Vice-President of Acquisition & Development of Consolidated Health Services and Administrator of Oak Ridge Dialysis Clinic; Past chairman of the network council for Network Eight Inc. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and past Master of Beaver Ridge Masonic Lodge #366; reinstituted the DeMolay Chapter. He served on the board of the National Kidney Foundation. He was a member of Knoxville Christian Center. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, George and Gladys Carter of Karns and sister Carol Raby Simmons. Survived by his wife of 46 years, Judy Tidwell Carter; son Jimmy Carter and wife Kristi; grandchildren, Gavin and Grayson Carter. The family will receive friends at Weaver Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 from 5:00-7:00p.m. The funeral service will immediately follow at 7:00p.m. Family and friends will meet on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on John Sevier Highway for a 9:30a.m. interment.
