Jeffrey David Emitt

Emitt, Jeffrey (Jeff) D., of Knoxville, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the age of 61. He was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church for many years. He is survived by his parents, Hal and Gloria Jeanne Emitt; brother and sister-in-law, Hal Jr and Ingrid.; children, Haley, Andrew and Dustin and grandchild, Dezmond L. King. Jeff’s early adult life was spent as a musician, having played guitar in many rock bands. He then worked several years in construction. Then he became an RN and worked for more than 15years at Penisula Psychiatric Hospital. At age 57, he entered Sacred Heart School of Theology to become a priest. While there, Jeff earned a B.A. in Religious Studies from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, WI. After 3 1/2years at the Seminary, he developed cancer, which finally migrated to his brain. The family will receive friends from 6-7pm, Friday, July 18, 2014 at Lynnhurst Chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 2300 Adair Drive, Knoxville, TN 37918. The rosary will begin at 7pm. The funeral mass will begin at 10:00am, Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Bishop Richard Stika and Monsignor Xavier Mankel officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
